Best-performing flood protection tape in University of Hull testing, reducing water leakage by 99%.
FloodKit Tape is a high-performance, flexible mastic tape designed to help protect homes and properties against flooding. It creates a temporary watertight seal over vulnerable gaps, cracks and openings, helping to reduce floodwater entering your property.
In research commissioned by Flood Re and conducted at the University of Hull's PFRlab, the flexible synthetic rubber flood putty tape tested delivered the best and most consistent performance of all four adhesive tapes evaluated.
The research found that the tape:
Reduced water leakage by approximately 99% on average across six different household door types.
Outperformed conventional sandbags, which typically reduced leakage by 60–70% at higher water depths.
Performed consistently across different door designs and water depths up to 600mm.
Adapted to irregular surfaces, helping to seal difficult areas such as door frames, thresholds and corners.
The independent research, published on 15 October 2026, highlights the effectiveness of specialist flood protection tape as an accessible, temporary flood resilience solution.
